Some of these channels might also be available in other cities in the Triangle area, such as Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Cary, etc.

Unencrypted channels are also described as clear-to-air, free-to-air, in-the-clear, and unscrambled.

Subchannel numbers (after the dot) may vary, depending on your receiving equipment. In some cases, a dash (-) may be entered instead of a dot.

The following information applies only to channels on TWC (Time Warner Cable).

The TWC channels are already available to all subscribers, even to those who only have Broadcast or Basic service. To receive them, you simply need to use a QAM tuner, which is included in some TV sets and other devices (such as the digital boxes from TWC). You may rent a CableCARD (if the QAM-capable device has a slot for it), but you are not required to use one for these channels, since they are not encrypted.

The CableCARD channel numbers can be entered if, and only if, you are using a CableCARD (or TWC's digital box). Otherwise, you can enter the two-part physical channel numbers, or you can enter the two-part virtual channel numbers, depending on your receiving equipment.

To convert a frequency (in MHz) to a physical channel number, use either of these equations:
Channel = (Frequency - 81) / 6, if the frequency is between 219 MHz and 645 MHz.
Channel = (Frequency - 51) / 6, if the frequency is 651 MHz or higher.
